School Profile Demographics
Dunnellon Elementary School is located in rural southwestern Marion County near the scenic Rainbow River. Once the students leave Dunnellon Elementary, most are assigned to Dunnellon Middle School and then go on to Dunnellon High School.
The Dunnellon Elementary School family is very proud of our academic growth. Dunnellon Elementary School has shown continued improvement over the past several years. The school has improved from a C in 2008, to an A in 2009, and a B in 2010. Dunnellon did not achieve Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2010 with the economically disadvantaged student subgroup.
For the 2022-23 school year, we have approximately 550 students in grades Pre-K through fifth grade attending Dunnellon Elementary. We have 28 K-5 classrooms, a Title 1 Pre-K handicap classroom, a VPK classroom, a Varying Exceptionalities (VE) classroom, and three ESE teachers servicing ESE students utilizing an inclusion model. Our average class size in K - 2 is 18 students, and 22 students in 3rd - 5th grade classes.
Dunnellon Elementary School is starting its thirty-first year as a Title 1 School. Funds from the program are used to purchase faculty and staff positions, staff development activities, technology equipment, student materials, and parent involvement activities.
School Colors and Mascot
Dunnellon Elementary's school colors are red and black.
Our mascot is a tiger cub.
